All programs require registration unless otherwise noted. Please call if unable to attend.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Ongoing

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten ongoing program encourages you to read 1,000 books to your child before he or she enters kindergarten. Just read three books a day for one year and it will add up to over 1,000 books! (R)

 

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! (Ages 5-9)

Sunday, March 2 • 1:00 p.m.

Let's celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday! Join us for some classic Dr. Seuss stories and activities. We'll be making a "Seusstastic" craft! (R)

 

LOTERIA/Mexican Bingo (Ages 4-12)

Tuesday, March 4 • 6:00 p.m.

Join us and play Loteria, a game of chance. Practice vocabulary and win prizes! (R)

 

Lego Robotics (Ages 9-14) New!

Wednesday, March 5 • 4:00 p.m.

With our new WeDo LEGO Construction Sets and software, you will be able to build and program your project. Using gears, cams, motion and tilt sensors you will even be able to add movement and sound to your project! Meet in the main level Computer Room in the Adult Services Department. The Dancing Birds Project will be held on this date. (R)

 

Nature Club (Ages 6 and up)

Saturday, March 8 • 11:00 a.m.

Theme: Coyotes and Urban America. Join us for nature facts, crafts and fun in this eco-friendly program. (R)

 

St. Patrick's Day (Ages 4-7)

Tuesday, March 11 • 6:00 p.m.

Bring your little leprechauns to this St. Patrick's Day program. We'll be doing art and having a wee snack. (R)

 

Bilingual Loom Bracelets (Grade 3 and up) New!

Wednesday, March 12 • 4:30 p.m.

Turn colorful rubber bands into bracelets and rings. (R)

 

Melikin Puppets Presents "Fractured Fairytales" (All Ages)

Saturday, March 15 • 1:00 p.m.

The professional puppet troupe, Melikin Puppets, will present three fractured fairy tales: Chicken Little, Three Bears and Two Bad Mice. Children will be required to sit for more than 30 minutes for this puppet show. Performance will be held in the Meeting Room. (R)

 

Delve and Devour Book Club (Grades 6-8 or Ages 12-14) New!

Thursday, March 20 • 4:00 p.m.

Join us for a lively discussion about a great book. There will also be an activity and a snack based on the story. Those interested may register starting February 10 and can pick up the book that we will be discussing at the Youth Services Desk beginning February 17. (R)

 

Paws to Read (Ages 6-10)

Saturday, March 22 • 11:00 a.m.

Our Paws to Read team, Officer Terry, K-9 Star, and K-9 Nadja will be here to listen patiently. Children can read aloud in a positive, non-threatening, and fun environment. Children will improve their reading skills and increase their confidence. Read a page or a chapter. Books will be provided or bring your favorite. (R)

 

Drop in Movie (All Ages)

Wednesday, March 26 • 2:00 p.m.

This PG movie will take place in the Activity Room.

 

Wii Gaming: Mario Kart (Ages 5 and up)

Thursday, March 27 • 12:00 p.m.

No school? No problem. Join in the fun while we play Mario Kart Wii.

 

Lego Club (Ages 5 and up)

Friday, March 28 • 3:45 p.m.

Use your imagination to build your own creation. We will display your project in the Youth Services Department. (R)

Easter Fun (Ages 3-6)

Tuesday, April 9 • 6:00 p.m.

Hop on in to this Easter storytime. We're telling bunny stories and making a special craft. (R)

 

Science Club-Balloons! (Ages 8-14)

Thursday, April 10 • 5:00 p.m.

Get ready to huff and puff, and blow up some balloons! We will experiment with air pressure, sound, and even propel a "vehicle." (R)

 

Early Learning Club (Ages 3-5 with Parent/Guardian)

Saturday, April 12 • 9:30 a.m.

This United Way Success by Six curriculum covers colors, shapes, counting, and the alphabet. Each parent and child will go home with an array of workbooks, games, and reading materials that reinforce the skills covered in the prep course. Presented in English and Spanish. Parent and child must attend together. Held in the Meeting Room. (R)

 

Nature Club (Ages 6 and up)

Saturday, April 12• 11:00 a.m.

Theme: Celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day. Join us for nature facts, crafts, and fun in this eco-friendly program. (R)

 

Colorful Eggs (Ages 6 and up)

Wednesday, April 16 • 5:30 p.m.

Join us in creating an "eggcellent" craft in time for Easter. (R)

 

Wii Gaming: Angry Birds Trilogy (Ages 5 and up)

Friday, April 18 • 12:00 p.m.

No school? No problem. Join in the fun while we play Angry Birds.

 

Annual Pet Expo (All Ages)

Saturday, April 19 • 1:00 p.m.

Join us for our Annual Pet Expo. Get information and meet pets from local shelters like Save-A-Pet. Talk to folks and their animal friends from pet rescues, animal clinics, search and rescue groups, animal therapy partners and more. There will be a raffle for pet supplies. This event will be held in the Meeting Room and will last until 3:00 p.m.

 

Silly Stories (Ages 5-8)

Thursday, April 24 • 6:00 p.m.

Enjoy listening to some silly, funny stories that will make you laugh and smile. After reading, we'll be making a silly craft. (R)

Celebrate your mom by joining us for some sweet Mother's Day stories. We'll also be making a beautiful craft you can give your mom on Mother's Day. (R)

 

Chat and Chew Book Club (Grades 3-5 or Ages 8-11)

Thursday, May 15 • 4:00 p.m.

Join us for a lively discussion about a great book! There will also be an activity and a snack based on the story. All those who register can pick up the book we will be discussing at the Youth Services Reference Desk starting April 14. (R)
