Please note that programs marked with (R) require registration and programs marked (NR) do not require registration.  Please call if unable to attend.

 

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Ongoing Program

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten ongoing program encourages you to read 1,000 books to your child before he or she enters kindergarten. Just read three books a day for one year and it will add up to over 1,000 books! Stop by Youth Services to register your child and pick up a reading log! (R)

There Are Bees in the Library! (Ages 5-7)

Thursday, July 6 • 2:00 p.m.

We are being invaded by robot bees! With these Bees, you will be able to program them to move and go through mazes. Come and join the Bee fun! (R)

 

Tie-Dye Bandanas (Ages 8 and up)

Friday, July 7 • 1:00 p.m.

Keep cool this summer and design a cool tie-dye bandana using sharpies! (R)

 

Toddler Art (12-24 months)

Tuesday, July 11 • 11:30 a.m.

Toddlers learn through all 5 senses! Bring your little one for fun hands-on, sensory activities to learn about and interact with the world around them. Each session will have a different theme. This fun program can get messy, so don't forget to bring a smock or an old t-shirt for you and your child. (R)

 

Science Club Jr: Mix It Up! (Ages 4-7)

Tuesday, July 11 • 2:00 p.m.

Be ready to get messy! We will make a fun and gooey concoction. (R)

 

Zinio 101 for Kids (Ages 8 and up)

Tuesday, July 11 • 4:00 p.m.

Bring your Kindle, Nook, Ipad, Iphone or Android device and learn how to use Zinio. Zinio will allow you to check out magazines on your device. So find out how you can get started today. Don't forget to bring your library card. (R)

 

Kindergarten Readiness (Ages 3-5)

Wednesday, July 12 • 10:30 a.m.

Bring your preschooler and listen to a story, do an activity and learn some of the skills that will be needed to get them ready for kindergarten. This is a three-week program that will take place in the Meeting Room. (R)

 

Brent Allan Presents: Bookcraft (All Ages)

Wednesday, July 12 • 1:00 p.m. 

Family-themed program (a Minecraft spinoff) featuring magic, comedy, storytelling and puppets by local entertainer, Brent Allan. (R)

 

Lego Robotics: Smart Spinner (Ages 9 and up)

Wednesday, July 12 • 1:00 p.m. 

With our WeDo LEGO Construction Sets and software you will be able to build and program your project. Meet in the main level computer room in Adult Services. Registration required. (R)

 

Mermaids (Ages 4-7)

Wednesday, July 12 • 6:00 p.m. 

A summer storytime with tales from the sea, a mermaid craft, and a sea-themed snack. (R)

 

Pokemon League (All Ages)

Thursday, July 13 • 12:00 p.m. 

Drop-in for non-stop Pokemon fun. All ages are welcome (even adults) to play. Don't know how to play, don't worry. We'll teach you with our library deck. Children under 10 must be accompanied by a caregiver. This program will take place in the Meeting Room. (NR)

Come and learn about some fun and interesting new science apps. We will even provide the iPad for you to use during the program. (Okay, we might just throw a couple fun math apps too!) (R)

Christine Thornton Presents: Gnome Homes: An Architectural Drawing Workshop (Ages 10-18)

Wednesday, July 19 • 1:00 p.m.

For teens and tweens ages 10-18. Use your imagination in this fun drawing class, where you'll conjure up a cozy little forest home for a gnome or fairy. (R)

 

Ozobot Time! (Ages 8-11)

Thursday, July 20 • 2:00 p.m.

This little robot does some awesome things! You draw out the commands and it will do what you tell it to do. Come and experiment with programming your Ozobot! (R)

 

Kids Movie Night (All Ages)

Thursday, July 20 • 6:00 p.m. 

Share a children's movie with the family for free! (NR)

You must have done the Dancing Birds, Smart Spinner and Drumming Monkey projects to be able to do this project. Registration required. (R)

Stories of the World (Ages 3-6)

Thursday, July 27 • 6:00 p.m. 

Join us for stories from around the world. Each month we will read stories from a different country, stamp your passports, and create a fun craft. (R)

Preschool Picasso (Ages 3-5)

Tuesday, August 1 • 11:30 a.m.

Bring your preschooler for hands-on arts and crafts! Each session will have a different theme. Make sure to dress in clothes you don't mind getting messy or bring a smock! (R)

 

Science Club: Launch It! (Ages 8 and up)

Wednesday, August 2 • 1:00 p.m.

Be ready to make and try some different launching systems to blast things into the air. You will be amazed! Meet in the parking lot. In case of rain this program will be cancelled. (R)

 

Escape Room (Ages 8 to 14)

Thursday, August 3 • 2:00 p.m.

Oh no! You are trapped in a room! How are you going to get out? Work as a team with others and solve some puzzles, find some clues, and hopefully you will get out before the time expires. (R)

 

Pizza, Pop, and Pencils (All Ages)

Saturday, August 5 • 1:00 p.m. 

Celebrate the ending of our summer reading programs. Drop-in and enjoy some pizza, pop and color with our colored pencils, markers and crayons. Free event for kids and adults who participated in our summer reading clubs. (NR)

Bring your Kindle, iPad, iPhone or Android device and learn how to use Overdrive. Overdrive will allow you to check out books and some audiobooks on your device. So find out how you can get started today. Don't forget to bring your library card. (R)

 

Pokemon Night (All Ages)

Thursday, August 10 • 6:00 p.m.

Come in to watch a movie. While you are here bring your DS, 2DS, or 3DS to play your Pokemon games against others or even bring in your Pokemon cards to play or showoff. (NR)
