Librarian I – Youth Services
Round Lake Area Public Library District

The Round Lake Area Public Library is looking for an enthusiastic, creative team player
with excellent communication skills and dedication to customer service, to fill a full-time
position at the library. The person filling this position will provide reference and reader’s
advisory services to preschool and school age children, young teens, and their
parents. Planning and preparing some year ‘round programs will be required. Other
activities include teaching patrons how to use library resources and access electronic
resources, and participating in collection development activities. We are looking for a
candidate who has excellent familiarity with children's books and authors and has the
ability to relay that information to meet the needs of our patrons.

Requirements
Previous experience in a public library setting or equivalent environment preferred;
must have experience working with children. MLIS degree is preferred, but will
consider MLIS student with comparable experience. Excellent interpersonal, written
and oral communication skills, the ability to maintain a good attitude and a sense of
humor, above-average computer skills, and the ability and willingness to work a flexible
schedule including days, evenings and weekends on rotation.

Full-Time: 37.5 hours per week, including some morning, afternoon, night and
weekend hours.
Salary: $17.26 - $25.88 hourly (depending on qualifications)
