Books on Wheels Home Delivery Service Policy

Round Lake Area Public Library offers a free home delivery service to adult library residents who can not visit the library either temporarily due to illness or accident, or permanently due to illness, disability, or other mobility issues.

  • A Home Delivery Service request must be filled out either on the library website or in person and verified by the Home Delivery Coordinator before delivery begins.
  • Patrons must have a library card in good standing or apply for a card during the first visit.
  • The Home Delivery Coordinator will be authorized to access patrons library records to manage circulation activity. A record of all material checked out by the patron will be maintained to assist in the selection and delivery of materials. This record will be disposed of after the home delivery services to the patron has ended.
  • Patrons registered for Home Delivery Service may request materials by using the library's website, or by calling or emailing the Home Delivery Coordinator.
  • Delivery of the library materials will be made once per month as scheduled by the Home Delivery Coordinator.
  • Deliveries will be made to the door or porch. Library staff will not enter homes.
  • There is no fee for Home Delivery Service. Overdue fines will not be charged, but the library's standard fee schedule will apply for damaged or lost items.
  • Patons are responsible for notifying the Home Delivery Coordinator when the service is no longer needed.
  • The Library reserves the right to discontinue a patron's home delivery services at any time.

WHAT IS HOME DELIVERY SERVICE?


Home Delivery service is a service the Round Lake Area Public Library offers to adult library residents who can not visit the library either temporarily due to illness or accident, or permanently due to illness, disability, or other mobility issues.

HOW DOES THIS SERVICE WORK?


Delivery of the library materials will be made once per month as scheduled by the Home Delivery Coordinator. We will deliver to the door or the porch, but will not enter your home. Home Delivery patrons must have a library card in good standing or a card application can be filled out during the first visit

WHO QUALIFIES FOR THIS SERVICE?


Adult library patrons who reside within the Round Lake Area Public Library district are able to take advantage of this service.

IS THERE A CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE?


There is no fee for the Home Delivery Service. Overdue fines will not be charged, but the Library’s standard fee schedule will apply for damaged or lost items.

WHAT ARE MY OTHER OPTIONS?


As an alternative to this program, you may prefer to have library materials selected and delivered by a friend or family member. With your written permission, library staff can authorize use of your library card by a person of your choice.
