Last Day to Sign Up for Summer Reading Clubs • Sunday, July 25 ****The Fall newsletter is scheduled for home delivery mid August. The Round Lake Area Library encourages community residents to contact legislators to voice your concern about a potential loss of library service. The Round Lake Area Library provides a service to all of our residents in which we pull books from other libraries on those occasions we do not have something on our shelves that you need. This service, called interlibrary loan, is coordinated by nine regional library systems throughout Illinois. These systems have received ONE check from the State to operate this service since July 1, 2009. It looks like none of these systems will receive another check in the foreseeable future, which means that by June 30, the interlibrary loan service that we provide you will either be discontinued or drastically reduced.
What is Crafters Club? A haven. Space and company for adults and teens who like to create things and be inspired by others who are creative. No skill requirements and no pressure. Simply bring your projects and supplies, and spend some time with other crafters working on their own projects. Enjoy light refreshments and a supportive atmosphere, where you might learn from other crafters and teach others as well. Meeting Room. Wednesday, August 4: 6:00—8:00 p.m.
The National Wildlife Federation® (NWF) has certified the library’s courtyard as an official Certified Wildlife HabitatTM site. This site represents the personal commitment of library patrons and staff who have worked in the garden, with the leadership of Deb Allen, Head of Youth Services.
Blood Drive @ your libraryHOPE. A simple word yet it means so much to someone in need. Donating blood is a simple act that helps save lives. In behalf of the library and the American Red Cross, I thank all the donors who came out on Tuesday, July 20. The American Red Cross collected 29 units of blood. Each unit has the potential to save 3-4 lives. Special thanks to Culver’s (Grayslake) and Music Saves Lives for donor incentives. Elena Lara, Blood Drive Coordinator Next blood drive September 21.
